Create Your Operating Cadence

Given everything we’ve worked on together, create an ideal operating cadence for yourself.:

  • Consider your rhythms. Think about not just what they’re currently like or the things that are outside of your control, but the way you’d like them to be.
  • Identify what an ideal day looks like (both weekday and weekend, as they’ll often be different.) Visualize it as clearly as possible. Slot your habits into stacks and create routines around them.
  • Begin implementing some version of a weekly review process. Schedule it in your calendar. If you have a partner, consider inviting them into the process and doing at least parts of it together.
  • Identify times to do a monthly, quarterly, and annual check in. Make a brief outline of what you want to include in each. Schedule them in the calendar. Consider involving your partner if you have one.
  • Treat all of this as an experiment. Feel free to tweak it as you learn what works best for you. Also give yourself grace if you don’t do parts of it (especially the daily cadence). Simply dust yourself off and try again the next day.
